Keeping Seniors Company
Connect with enthusiastic university students virtually without barriers
Seniors are considered high risk for COVID-19; thus, seniors have to self-isolate in their homes or senior facilities to protect their health. Without having visits from family and friends or activities to do, the lack of interactions amplify their feeling of isolation. They have less social opportunities with others and family members may not be able to keep them company at all the times. Consequently, our youth volunteers are here to connect with our senior population. We are available through phone any day of the week. We are dedicated to keep in touch with them, be their active listener, and hope to brighten the day for them.

Write a Caring Message to Our Seniors
During this time, seniors may feel disconnected from friends and families, as well as the broader community, since visiting seniors is not an option. The situation has led them to become more vulnerable to loneliness and anxiety. Consequently, our project encourages the public to send heartfelt messages to support our seniors and show that we care for our elderly community, and that we are thinking of them.
Our project volunteers will print out each message on a well-designed and delightful card to be distributed with senior homes and communities in our neighbourhood. Our project volunteers will also read some of the messages to seniors as they connect with us during our phone hours.
If you wish to submit hand-written notes, drawings, and other expressions of love, please send them to our email info@connectwithoutbarriers.com directly. Our project volunteers will invite caretakers at senior homes to showcase them for our seniors.
